For most online orders you need three things: a tamper-evident courier cover in the right size, bubble wrap for fragile items and strong packing tape. Buying in bulk from a local wholesaler lowers your cost per parcel and keeps you from running out on busy days.
The basic courier packing kit
- Courier covers (poly mailers): tear-proof, water-resistant, with a tamper-evident adhesive strip. Great for garments, books and accessories.
- Bubble wrap roll: cushions glass, electronics, cosmetics and ceramics.
- Packing tape: brown or clear, wide and strong for boxes.
- Stretch film: bundles multiple items or wraps cartons together. Unsure whether you need shrink wrap instead? Read our shrink wrap vs stretch film guide.
How to choose the right courier cover size
Measure your product at its widest and add roughly 1 to 2 inches for the seal and a little room. Too tight and the cover tears; too loose and the item shifts. Sellers with a mixed catalogue usually stock three sizes: small (accessories), medium (garments, books) and large (bulk or multi-item orders).
Cut damage and returns
- Wrap fragile items in bubble wrap before they go in the cover or box.
- Seal edges fully and press the adhesive strip for several seconds.
- Keep products dry. A poly cover is water-resistant but not a substitute for a dry item.
- Place the label on a flat spot so the barcode scans first time.
